Legal info for activists

Different types of actions can have different legal issues and consequences. This section is intended as a basic reference about some of those legal issues.

The following overview is not meant to be exhaustive, nor is it intended to substitute for personal legal advice. You may have special legal issues not covered here.

If there are warrants out for your arrest, or if you are on probation or parole, even if from another Australia state or territory, you need to be very careful about your contacts with the police – an arrest may lead to your extradition to whatever jurisdiction wants you.

Most of the information in this guide is geared towards adults.

If you need personal legal advice, you should consult with a lawyer on an individual basis. If you have any doubts about whether you have special circumstances, seek legal assistance.
